There are few a few essential items that every man needs in his wardrobe. A pair of brown shoes is one. Another is a good-quality, well-fitting tweed jacket – they’re incredibly versatile and can be worn throughout autumn and winter.

Winter will be over soon but, thanks to a tip-off from a reader, I recently came across this fantastic herringbone jacket from British brand Jack Russell. Along with some lovely touches, such as the brilliant red felting on the underside of the collar lining, the Reiver jacket pictured here is made from Yorkshire-woven herringbone tweed. It also has three inside pockets: one for your wallet, one for your mobile phone and one for your weasel (or stoat, if you’re so inclined).
