The mere act of placing a pocket square in your top pocket is somewhat dandyish; having it perfectly straight and mathematically aligned – in the TV fold style – is simply too perfect for my liking.
For all but the most formal of occasions I like my pocket square to look more like an afterthought – like I just stuffed it in my pocket and forgot about it – than a conscious style statement.
