My most-worn jacket during late spring and early summer is this unstructured navy jacket. It’s just the thing for when the days are hot but you need to look smarter than your average salaryman.
Remember that gingham shirts need to be toned down with simple, dark-coloured ties. This one is actually a black and medium grey knit, which makes it look like very dark grey from a distance.
Need some decent chinos? Get yourself a few pairs of J.Crew’s Bowery pants in “urban slim fit”. Shit name, great price.
In non-style related business, some rather imposing cloud formations signal the oncoming of rainy season here in Tokyo. It’s not offically rainy season yet, mind you. Somebody has to predict and then announce it on TV.
(Clothes: navy jacket by Edifice; dark grey knitted silk tie by S.T. Dupont; blue gingham shirt by Beams; black belt by J.Press; light grey chinos by J.Crew)

It is no great challenge to look smarter than the average salaryman!!
True. But this guy takes some beating:

What kind/make of tie are you wearing in the pic. It looks textured?
John,
It’s by S.T. Dupont (the pen manufacturer). I bought it at one of their shops in Paris, but I’ve not seen them elsewhere. It’s actually knitted rather than woven.
